Senior Fintech Leader and Philanthropist
“During the year that we worked together, Amy helped me discern and make a transformational career change.
I had been with a fintech startup I loved for almost six years, having led most departments. Amy supported me in digging into the restlessness I was feeling in my leadership role, accompanying me in digging into the root cause of what I was feeling, exploring possible options and preparing to make an important pivot into social justice/philanthropy/movement-building.
With Amy’s support, I continued to discern what I wanted and what made sense for me in the moment, allowing me to take risks and grow personally and professionally. This change has given me a new way to express my values and prioritize fulfillment in my career.
Additionally, Amy helped me live into my commitment to stress management as part of my responsibility in a leadership role. Especially amidst the added challenges of the pandemic, she taught me some helpful tools that have made me more aware of and able to resolve my reactions to stressors, which is essential as they can otherwise lead to less effective decision-making.
I’ve become clearer on my own needs and how to fulfill them, including communicating them to select stakeholders. I’ve learned that asking for help (or even just a sounding board) is a fundamental leadership skill, not a sign of weakness. I had been over-indexing on self-sufficiency; now I feel less alone with my responsibilities and more cared for and connected to others.
Beyond external validation or metrics to know I’m successful, I discovered it’s also really important to me to know I’m truly living my values and mission, that I’m taking risks, and learning and growing as a person.
Amy also helped me gain some crucial insights into diversity and inclusion issues at my company, have brave conversations and become a stronger ally to drive change.”
